Learning in Lockdown

Learning in Lockdown I had signed up for a stained glass online painting course in January and it was due to start in March for 8 weeks. Each Tuesday for the 8 weeks a further part of the course was released to eager students - this turned out to be the perfect solution for my lockdown blues as the college closed with only Zoom lectures for the forseable. https://www.courses.glasspaintersmethod.com/course/illuminate/ This is the blurb from the course:

Studying Hard - HNC Glass Art and Design

I’ve been studying hard at the City of Glasgow College doing an HNC in Glass Art and Design since September 2019, so I’ve been super quiet on updating my website. It’s a great course and we’ve just completed “block 2” with lots of handins and loads of gorgeous pieces of glass have been produced by my fellow students. Here are some of my pieces - my theme was fruit - but I seem to have been drawn to green and limes :D could that be due to my love of gin and tonics?

When will I, Will I be Faaaaamous??

This wee video was made by students at Stirling University as part of their course. So this is me and my weird voice :D It was an interesting project to be part of - 6 hours of filming/chatting to produce a 60 second film. Love the tink and click of the glass. Glass Hub Course - Fab-U-Glass

Had a brilliant time on the Glass Hub week kiln crafting course with Helga Watkins-Baker - really stretched myself with techiniques and an amazing amount of stuff to learn from a true expert. Sadly my pot melt was a brown mess and got recycled :) Would definately reccommend the Glass Hub for any glass related course - watching the glass blowers made me want to give that a go next!

I’ve allowed myself time off from my craft room and away from my kiln to attend a course… But don’t worry I won’t be too far away from glass! It’s a glass fusing course run by The Glass Hub for a whole amazing week! I can’t wait. http://www.theglasshub.co.uk It’s down in Bath so travelling down today to meet up with Kathryn who is looking forward to her first foray into glass work.
